Tesla officially unveils the Tesla Factory in Fremont, CA. | |
The former NUMMI factory closed in April 2010. Tesla purchased the factory in May to build the Model S and future Tesla vehicles. The Tesla Factory is the only auto assembly plant in California, and the first facility dedicated exclusively to mass production of electric vehicles. |

The Tesla Factory will combine the best automotive and Silicon Valley talent within a proven manufacturing facility to produce the car of the 21st century - Model S. The Model S will be the first electric premium sedan designed from the ground up to take full advantage of the electric vehicle architecture. | ||
